When he returns home from the markets to find that his family has been brutally and needlessly killed during a skirmish, his hurt and grief soon turn to hate and a lust for revenge. Clel starts a one-man war on those responsible, and soon finds that revenge will not replace his loss. Having nothing to return home to, Clel joins the Confederate Army. Clel soon finds himself caught up in the Battle of Shiloh, and then on to defend North Alabama from the spearheading troops determined on cutting the Confederate supply chains by capturing the M&C Railroad, and controlling the Tennessee River.
